Unfortunately most products have salicylates in them so you need to check the labels .(toiletries,perfumes, cosmetics, toothpaste,etc)

Salicylates in Ingredients

Menthol(menthol or chemicals beginning with CAMPH or MENTH)

Salicylate sensitive individuals also tend to have adverse reactions to benzoates and tartrazine which are artificially preservatives and colourings added to food.

Shopping list

Some foods I have found safe of course you can find many more you just need to check labels.!Also companys frequentely change the ingredients. Lots will just say vegetable oil and flavorings . I rang a company once to ask what were the flavoring and they said it just came in a large bottle with flavoring on it!!.
See list above for negligible salicylate fruit & vegatables but I also some times include in my diet low salicyaltes such as chives, garlic, celery, brussels sprouts,iceberg lettuce, leeks, shallots. soya sauce ,paw paw, golden delicious apples .

Toiletries

There are company's claiming to be salicylate free products but they use parabans and sodium benzoates to preserve them !!.

Simple soap
I have not found a failsafe shampoo so I use normal shampoo and ring well !
Toothpaste - I use sodium bicarbonate or salt( some say it is abrasive on the teeth but I have been using it for 8 years without a problem.)
Toilet rolls-plain white
Tissues check for balsam and use plain white only

Goats powder for washing my face!

Moisterisers
Organic soya oil full of vitamin E and is absobed into the skin quickly and is not greasy.
Pure Shea Butter(also great for sun burn and very dry skin )
Pure vitamin E oil

 

Cosmetics

Check labels for salicylates .and also avoid cosmetic or skin preparation which says "beta hydroxy acid",as this is salicylic acid .
Make up

Medicines
Anti histamines ( check ingredients with pharmacist)
Paracetamol - very hard to get them without E numbers!
(Tylenol contains benzioc acid which is chemically similar to salicylates it is best avoided)

 

Vitamins that do not contain salicylates.
Read the label and avoid anything that has bioflavinoids, rose hips, flavonoids, rutin, quercetin.or plant oils, gels or extracts (such as ginseng, kava kava, alfalfa,aloe vera)

 

House cleaning
Steamer is best . Sodium bicarbonate, vinegar, lemons.
Toilet-Harpic White & Shine Original with sodium bicarbinate
Air fresheners -use vanilla essence in water and spray
